IDTA Amateur Medallist Examinations*

As members of the IDTA, The International Dance Teachers’ Association, A leading dance qualifications awarding body and membership association for professional dance teachers. Twice a year UDA pupils have the opportunity to participate in IDTA examinations in all of our Dance genres (Apart from Bambino Ballet). The IDTA defines standards across the widest variety of dance forms and examines performance for both professionals and non-professionals of all ages, developing the skills and professional practice of members. In a typical 12 weeks term, pupils will spend 12 weeks learning and then perfecting routines before being invited to undertake an exam. For the medal tests and higher awards, the dances are choreographed by the teacher and build in length and complexity. The Association also offers social dance awards, and team awards. Exams are held with an IDTA examiner who will watch the children perform in small groups. Rosettes, medals and trophies along with certificates and exam feedback will be given to children in lesson time. The International Dance Teachers’ Association will provide all of their amateur members with a membership card and pin number. This number is used for all of their exams and will also be used if UDA competes in any IDTA run competitions.
